Each year, the Greater Raleigh Chamber establishes a variety of committees and task forces to accomplish its business plan. Chamber members have the opportunity to become more involved in meaningful ways. The following volunteer opportunities are categorized by Chamber department.


COMMUNICATIONS


Communications Department Board
The Communications Department Board serves as a focus group on all communications issues involving the Chamber, its departments and programs.


ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT


Economic Development Department Board
The Economic Development Department Board serves as a focus group on all economic development issues involving the Chamber. Volunteer must be a member of an edge3 investor company.

Economic Development Committee
The Economic Development Committee provides input to and support for the Wake County Economic Development and Raleigh Economic Development staff. The committee assists in developing proactive marketing strategies and initiatives that strengthen the cluster-based economic development program in order to recruit new jobs and investment in Wake County. The committee also provides networking opportunities for members. This committee is open to all Chamber members and meets quarterly.

GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS (PUBLIC POLICY)


Government Affairs Department Board
The Government Affairs Department Board serves as a focus group on all public policy issues involving the Chamber.

Community Success Forum Task Force
The Community Success Forum Task Force assists Chamber staff with the planning and implementation of the annual Community Success Forum.

Education Committee
The Education Committee works with various education groups, including the Wake County Public School System, to share ideas on how to continue to improve our school system.

Inter-City Visit and Leadership Task Force
The Inter-City Visit and Leadership Task Force assists Chamber staff with the planning and implementation of the annual Inter-City Visit and Leadership Conference.
Issues Committee
The Issues Committee assists in crafting the Chamber's Legislative Agenda.

MEMBERSHIP DEVELOPMENT


Campaign 2008
The annual Chamber campaign is a resource-development effort to sell Chamber event sponsorships and memberships -- including memberships for AM Networks, Board of Advisors, edge3, Greater Raleigh Sports Council, Regional Transportation Alliance, and Young Professionals Network. The campaign kicks off in February and concludes in May.

Greater Raleigh Chamber/Belk, Inc. Golf Tournament
Volunteers are needed the day of the Chamber’s annual golf tournament (in October) for various tasks on the course, as well as for helping with registration and clean up.

New Member Breakfasts
Limited volunteer opportunities are available for the Chamber’s monthly (except January and July) new member orientation sessions.


MEMBERSHIP SERVICES & SMALL BUSINESS


Membership Services Department Board
The Membership Services Department Board serves as a focus group for developing a variety of networking, marketing and training opportunities for members to connect with potential customers.

Small Business Department Board
The Small Business Department Board serves as a focus group for developing programs and resources to assist small business owners to prosper and advance their business.

AM Networks Task Force
AM Networks provides early-morning networking and educational programs for Greater Raleigh Chamber members. Task force members work with staff to select speakers, encourage involvement in activities, and greet and interact with members at three monthly meetings.

Business Expo Task Force
The Business Expo Task Force assists Chamber staff in planning and implementing the annual business-to-business trade show held in April. The average number of exhibitors is 300. Task force members recruit businesses to participate in the trade show, sell sponsorships for the event, and assist with speaker selections and event activities.

Chamber Executive Women’s Task Force
Chamber Executive Women’s Task Force members recruit nationally known speakers and sell event sponsorships for the quarterly Chamber Executive Women’s luncheons.

Meet the Purchasers Task Force
Meet the Purchasers provides Greater Raleigh Chamber members a vehicle to connect with purchasing representatives from large Triangle businesses, educational institutions, and governmental agencies. Task force members contact local purchasers to participate in one of the quarterly sessions and encourage members to attend the sessions.

Member Discounts Task Force
The Member Discounts Task Force serves as a clearinghouse for potential discounted products and services to be offered to Chamber members.

Pinnacle Business Awards Task Force
Each year the Greater Raleigh Chamber presents several awards to local entrepreneurs at the annual Pinnacle Business Awards Celebration. Task force members recruit applicants for the various awards, recruit sponsorships for the event, and sell corporate tables for the event.

Working Mothers’ Task Force
The Working Mothers’ Task Force assists Chamber staff in planning and implementing the quarterly Working Mothers’ luncheons.

Young Professionals Network Steering Committee
The Young Professionals Network Steering Committee assists Chamber staff in planning and implementing the bi-monthly Young Professionals Network meetings.
